Tropikos is a distinctive boutique hotel situated in the bustling city of Miami. Drawing inspiration from the elegance of 1980s luxury, the sophisticated exclusivity of country clubs, and a splash of Miami Vice flair, Tropikos offers a lavish, opulent experience for its guests. In preparation for the highly anticipated grand opening of its flagship location, Tropikos is currently seeking a brand identity that not only conveys a sense of immersion and playfulness but also reflects the exclusive luxury that sets this boutique hotel apart.
Utilizing influences from Miami Vice, the upscale country club lifestyle, and the iconic preppy style of the 1980s, I created a visually intricate, maximalist, and luxurious design system for Tropikos. By incorporating traditional hotel amenities with a pastel color palette and maximalist imagery reminiscent of the 1980s, I infused this boutique hotel with a distinct personality and charm from the ground up. By blending all of these elements, my goal is for patrons to leave their get-away feeling a sense of dream-like fantasticism.
For the promotional hotel brochure, I aimed to convey the captivating and immersive ambiance that the city of Miami is renowned for. To achieve this, I designed a series of artistic collages that highlight the upscale amenities and services provided by Tropikos. Drawing inspiration from my visual research, I incorporated imagery that evokes the luxurious and extravagant lifestyles prevalent in the 1980s.
To finalize this design system, I developed a collection of in-room and out-of-room items for guest enjoyment. These offerings range from premium bathrobes to customized golf balls, which can be rented at Tropikos' on-site golf club. By combining a sophisticated script typeface with a contemporary serif in the logotype, these designs convey a sense of careful attention to detail and elegance that reflects Tropikos' fundamental values. My goal was to infuse elements of upscale luxury, influenced by the sophistication of 1980s country clubs and the Miami lifestyle, into every aspect of this brand identity.
